January 9 Monday -- Snow and Cold in the Franklin
Mountains -- The magic of snow in our mountains is always
something to celebrate so I (Had) went out late in the day when
the contrasts are the greatest and took some photos. It
looked like I was in Alaska somewhere from up there. The
air was full of moisture and visibility was restricted -- which
helped give these photos a different perspective.
Below is looking north up the Franklins (I am about
even with Mundy's Gap which is to the right but not visible). The
Organ Mountains capped with snow are visible in the far distance.

North Mt. Franklin with Mundy's Gap to the left (next
two photos)

Stunning view of Mundy's Gap

A high peak north of Mundy's Gap -- it's getting
darker by the minute!

View of N. Mt. Franklin from the northwest

The south range of the Franklins from the northwest
and in front of the foothills -- a lot of cold rock!

Hope you enjoyed the show! |
